c11g: Changes since 2049/10/08

c11g, believed to be a numerical contraction of cyberbullying, is an online troll group and web forum dedicated to stalking, harassing, and documentingdoxing various online personalities. The forum is hosted and managed by Gonerphage, who claims that c11g only targets individuals who count as “public figures” to prevent sanctions from internet governing bodies.

History

c11g originated in 2043 as a splinter group of ViralSamsara, an online troll community that fell apart after being put on the Do Not Host/Do Not Register list of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). [1] Launched by prominent ViralSamsara poster Gonerphage, the c11g forum differentiated itself from its predecessor by adhering to what its members call the Gonerphage rule: they only target individuals whom they view as “public figures.” Gonerphage credits this rule with preventing c11g from being targeted for stronger sanctions by internet governing bodies.

c11g’s definition of public figure is considered malleable. The group has primarily targeted influencers, CEOs, professional athletes, and performers. Members of c11g have been accused of engaging in gonering, astroturfing campaigns meant to raise an individual’s public profile in order to make them “fair game.” [2]

As of late 2047, c11g has been added to the Psychological, Noetic, and Stochastic Terrorism Watchlist of the European Union (EU). In spite of this, the c11g forum remains accessible via the internet on c11g.gooner as well as several mirror domains. [3]

Notable targets

Prior to his death, Richie Diniz was the target of c11g’s longest-running harassment campaign, which ranged from stalking, cyberattacks, and social media baiting to various real-world pranks. [34] As with most c11g activity, there was considerable spillover into active harassment of prominent figures in fan communities. [45]

After Diniz died on October 3rd 2049, c11g shifted its focus to Fernand Roth for his role in “depriving [c11g] of a prized lolcow,” leading to a doxing campaign that saw Roth’s personal information, including his bank statements and sportsbook accounts, leaked to the public. When Roth died on October 8th 2049, Gonerphage expressed outrage at losing him “before he was even done marinating.”

In a March 2047 episode of The Desai Summit about the activities of c11g, Hasashi Desai raised the argument that Gonerphage is a member of Second Advent, given their frequent far-right talking points and the fact that nearly all of c11g’s targets are individuals with neural colloid implants. This prompted Gonerphage to start a harassment campaign against Desai “only to disprove his dumb argument” on the basis that Desai has been vocal about not having any colloids.

Members of c11g have disrupted the premieres of several Sumire Novak films and instigated ancillary hate campaigns against film critics and influencers who covered her work. [6]
